The company LG Hausys Europe GmbH launches the competition «HI-MACS® Design Contest 2011», a European design contest, which deals with furniture design using our Solid Surface material HI-MACS®.
The theme of the competition is: "Urban furniture"
The theme therefore refers to any piece of furniture used to furnish the city. The object has to be freely chosen by the designer. Here is a non exhaustive list of application that can be done:
• Public bench
• Streetlight
• Telephone box
• Jardinière
• Banister
• Etc.
PARTICIPANTS
The competition is open to professional designers and students with no age limit. The student should be attending at least his/her second year studies. For information, candidates who are studying or working in the following areas are invited to take part: • Product designers • Interior designers • Urban designers • Architects • Any other design-related studies
Participation is free.
PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Each participant is free to present between 1 and 5 projects, which will have to be realized individually. No team work is allowed.
For external applications, the prototypes have to be fabricated in the colours recommended for external applications only, i.e.: S02 Almond, S09 Cream, S28 Alpine White, G02 Gray Sand, G04 White Quartz, G05 White Granite, G30 Ivory Quartz, G34 Arctic Granite, G38 Sea Oat Quartz, G41 Confetti Quartz, G48 Beach Sand.
The budget for the fabrication of the prototype is set at 2'000€ maximum. This includes all the necessary accessories, material, working time etc, needed for the fabrication of the prototype. The transport costs to London's exhibition are not included.
No financial participation is requested from the participant for the fabrication of the prototype. The budget is given as an indication, and the fabrication costs are completely assumed by LG Hausys Europe.
This budget will be reimbursed to HI-MACS® Strategic Partner as follow: 1000€ in money transfer or credit note and 1000€ in FOC sheets.
The prototype will be manufactured on 1:1 scale except under exceptional circumstances.
PRIZES
Two prizes will reward the best proposals:
• First prize "professional": 2'000€ in LG Electronics equipment voucher
• First prize "student": 1'000€ in LG Electronics equipment voucher
The decision of the jury is stark.
All the finalists will be supported by the following communication package:
• Trophy
• Highlight on www.himacs.eu in the Design Contest's section
• Profile in a press release spread to more than 1'700 international journalists specialised in interior design, architecture and building construction.
• Prototype fabricated and exhibited during London Design Week 2011
The winning projects will receive special presentation on www.himacs.eu and will be featured in an additional press release sent to our journalists' database.
PRESENTATION DEADLINE
The projects have to be sent before 30th April 2011.
