InstantHouse Social Club calls for the design of a small service-oriented structure that represents an alternative to the temporary and "fluid" condition of the contemporary urban landscape.
These small service structures, on an urban or local scale, should complete or augment the social housing already built or planned for the future, while creating a network of services that will serve as a communications link for the residential spaces around the parks.
The parks become an important public space, a central hub in the network connecting the various parts of the city. The key theme of the contest is to create a network of services located along the Vie d'Acqua, envisioned by Expo 2015. This system can represent an opportunity to enrich the city, create flows of different people (from the areas of the city surrounding the sites crossed by the Vie d'Acqua) and welcome residents, visitors, tourists to the city (who will be attracted by the unusually high concentration of services). The system suggested by Expo 2015 for the Vie d'Acqua will become a sequence of large areas that connects parts of the
city, becoming a landscape and social infrastructure.
Each small Social Club will be like a new focal point for the surrounding neighbourhoods as well as for the city. It will be a place of gathering, conversation, and convergence, giving local residents from different generations and cultural backgrounds the opportunityto exchange and share ideas, actively participate, and make a difference. The Social Club activities will be managed by local cooperatives and non-profit organizations to develop real opportunities for social integration, experience of the natural territory and sustainable construction.
